my old chinese hookah is now in pieces...i need a new(and way better)hookah.

i'm thinking about a km(maybe, exotica, double pear or trimetal).

but sometimes I like to smoke with several friends(my old chinese was a 3 hose hookah),so I also thing about buying a mya(don't know yet)

so guys....does a KM smoke really better than a mya?why mya's hookah are always expesive than KM?

is it woth to buy a 4 hose mya instead off a real good KM?

and btw,is the phunnel better than a vortex?

eh not really. I mean the km has a thicker pipe so it does flow smoke easier, but if you pack the bowl well on the mya, there should be no issue with smooth flow. I think as long as both bowls are packed well, either km or mya will do just fine. But i personally think km's look much sexier than mya's. But mya's are very high quality. At times my qt sits in the water for a day or two and the thing looks brand spankin new still, no matter what you do to it.

Either will work, go with what you like best, also check out MZ.

Phunnel kicks vortex's ass. Go with the original, they are the ones that deserve the money.

I can't speak for which smokes better between the KM or Mya but I have a Mya Bambino and it smokes amazingly. If you really want a multi hose hookah I'd say go with Mya.

General consensus on here is that the phunnel bowl is the more popular of the 2 bowls.

Good choice on the Mya, however, that particular hookah has a screw on shaft. I've heard tell of these having thread stripping issues. All of my Myas are drop-in so I can't, personally, speak to whether or not that complaint is valid.

As far as the hose goes, it should fit. I use a lot of KM hoses and they all fit on all of my Myas.

Holy cow, 140+ bucks for a Mya? Yikes.

Cons:
Well it will last about 2 years until the ghosting is so bad you won't even be able to taste the flavor you want to taste. wink.gif
And you won't be able to purge.
The glass is weak and low quality.
The threads break very easily.
It rips apart stem brushes.
It may or may not contain lead.
Common Chamber is not the best route to take when purchasing a hookah.
There are KM models with multiple hoses, and no common chamber. (and no lead).
TheHookah.com charges 10 bucks to add on a Hose port adapter.
The stem transfers heat too well, and eventually gets too hot to touch.

Pros:
The metal will last a long time.
The finish will always be shiny.
The outside chrome-colored coating will not corrode with normal use.
Easy to carry around.
Smokes well.
Good tray.

The common chamber is one downside of Myas, but I think it gets down to what mattarios said, your bowl packing and heat management. I say get whatever one looks best to you

For that much I would get a KM. Are your friends chipping in to pay for the hookah? You shouldn't buy your hookah based on being able to supply a hose for your friends who aren't going to pay for anything (trust me I know). I say buy whichever one you want and if anyone starts complaining about you having the hose for to long tell them to fuck off. Your the one who spent all the money.

Oh and get a phunnel not a vortex.

I have two KMs and 4 Myas - a KM double pear, KM Tri-metal, two mini Myas, Mya QT, Mya Gyro. They all smoke good. All of mine seem to have been built well, with the Myas looking a little better as far as fit and finish, in general. The Myas can be broken down into pieces for storage/transport. The common chamber is annoying, but I don't purge that often, and I don't bother purging at all with the Myas as it's a waste of time. The KM's are probably a better VALUE - more bang for less buck, but I love the Myas I have and actually use them more often. The QT rapidly became my favorite "go to" hookah. I would just pick one that appeals to you personally and, as mentioned above, avoid any models where the stem screws onto the base.

Pardon my ignorance but outside of outside of the pipe not being able to purge as well is there really any problem with a common chamber set up?

Not that I'm aware of. Just doesn't purge as well or at all in some cases. All of my Myas are set up as multi-hosers with check valve stems, so that kinda kills the purging anyway - with multiple people pulling on it almost constantly, why would you need to purge, anyway?

Not an Open Common Chamber. This is what a Mya is, and it's all good except for the rough brass on the inside. After awhile the smell will just not come out and tastes will impart into your session.

If you have no problem buying a new hookah every 1-2 years then a Mya is a fine choice. They are just expensive. The metal lasts very long, but the design itself is flawed.

The Bambino, though, is nice and smooth on the inside, that's why i prefer it.

my only problem with MYA's is that there is not a single long smooth pipe that goes from top to bottom like on my KM.

Instead it is rough and has cavities that are impossible to clean. thus causing ghosting after a while.

Now, i'm not sure on the construction of MZ's. whether or not the stem is like a KM (all one smooth pipe) or not. If it is, socialsmoke has a lot of multi hose Mz's available and they are a great price.

i have found in smoking with friends that several single hose hookahs can be more fun that one multi hose.

different flavors for each. it only gets difficult if you switch the hoses around a lot.

i had an old crappy chinese hookah with a common chamber but it smoked pretty well but i do agree ghosting was a problem and i like the mya because they are small and not hard to bring around to other places

All multi-hose mya's come with purge screw-in adapters...I actually got a two hoser I typically keep on a single + purge unless I get more then three people smoking on it.

If you clean it after every session, plus pipe-clean it every 3 or so, you should be fine.

Edit: even my buddies four-hosers adapt to a single + purge biggrin.gif Edited by redjako

I like mya personally. I never have a ghosting problem either because I put the hookah stem in the dishwasher from time to time. not the glass tho as its not tempered. I would go with mya:

1. you can replace parts if you break it
2. very very durable
3. overall appeal.

it is up to you. i think that km and mya smoke pretty much the same i just like mya.

For everyone that has not had a problem with their MYA hookahs ghosting, how long have you owned it and how much usage did it get in that time frame?

I used mine almost every day for about 6 months that i can remember, probably less, when it started ghosting.

I used so many different cleaning methods. i even had this little brush i could get in the hard to reach places and got alot of grunge out but I could never get it all...

If you use your hookah once or twice a week it should last you a long time before it starts ghosting as long as you clean it after every use.

Have had my Obelisk for a year now.

Disassemble soak in Hot Water and Dawn. Soak for about 10-20 minutes. Use typical brushes to clean. Air Dry a little and Towel Dry. Reassemble and put back in case.

I used it almost everyday until my wife got preggers.

Never once had a ghosting problem with my any of my Mya's.
